What's with this guy?

Pat Cranor is a California native now residing in the Los Angeles area.
He stills remembers the day he knew he wanted to become an artist-the day he won his first art award in the sixth grade. Really! He has always had a “thing” for color.

After graduating from Idaho State University with a degree in Business
Marketing and a minor in Art, he niftily linked the two disciplines and began a
successful career as an advertising agency art director. In 1986 Pat moved to Japan. Living in Osaka and Kobe for more than five years, Pat developed a technique with watercolors to create the look of a stylized woodblock print .

He started painting striking, colorful, and culture-clashing scenes as viewed by a
foreigner. After his first son was born, Pat painted a series of animals designed for his son’s nursery.  Child development experts suggested that bright colors and repeated images were beneficial to a baby’s development, so Pat applied this knowledge by developing a style of taking one image, repeating it, and putting it into the composition. After returning to the United States, Pat started painting full-time. Pat’s paintings originate from his love of color, great sense of composition, and strong graphic design background. For Pat, color is always the primary focus. He takes watercolors in a complete different direction with big, bold and bright colors. Pat keeps the images true to nature and yet is able to bring out the personalities of his subjects. From butterflies to dolphins he has created warm and humorous paintings.
